Louis-Martin Berthault

Louis -Martin Berthault (* 1770 in Paris, † 1823 in Tours ) was a French architect, decorator, landscaper and engraver.

Berthault was a student of Charles Percier. He enjoyed the support of Madame Recamier, later Empress Joséphine, whose architect, he was 1805. He designed the interior of the palace of Compiegne and put at the gardens. He quickly gained an international reputation that is not even faded by the fall of the First Empire.

He devoted himself to projects of interior design and gardens. In addition, he produced engravings with aquatint.
