Life

Prince Ludwig the Younger was the son of Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt- Köthen and his wife Amalia Amoena, a daughter of Count Arnold II von Bentheim. He was gifted by the testimony of contemporaries and left " in the political future of the country hope for Large " ( Kaspar von Teutleben ).

On the very foundation day (24 August 1617), his father took him into the Fruitbearing society. The prince gave the ten year-old boy the company name of Juicy and the motto " Unausgesogen taugs not ". As an emblem he chose for his son " cut a watermelon and a little piece of shared " ( Citrullus lanatus ( Thunb. ) Nakai et Matsum ). In Köthener society book there is an entry Prince Louis the Younger under No. 6

Whether Louis the Younger took part in the March 1, 1624 in Köthen in the meeting of the Académie des amants parfaits, is questionable, because he died on March 15, 1624 at the age of 16 years and was buried in Köthener St.Jakobskirche.
