Louis René Tulasne

Louis René Etienne also Edmond Tulasne ( born September 12, 1815 in Azay -le- Rideau, France, † December 22, 1885 in Hyères) was a French botanist and mycologist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Tul. ".

Life and work

Tulasne initially studied law and was then a lawyer. In addition to his profession he studied botanical studies. In 1842 he became assistant ( aide - naturaliste ) national d' histoire naturelle in Paris, where he worked at the Muséum with flowering plants and cryptogams. 1854 Tulasne was a member of the Academy of Sciences in Paris.

His first works related to classification of phanerogams ( legumes, Podostemaceen, Monimiaceen ). Then he published with his brother Charles Tulasne work on the evolution of fungi. This contributed significantly to the knowledge of the Tulasne smaller parasitic fungi, especially the rust and smut fungi and their development cycles. Other taxa that have been edited by Tulasne, then Pyrenomycetes ( forms with perithecium ) and Diskomyceten were ergot and other Ascomycota (with Apothecium ) called.
