Louis Salvérius

Louis Salverius, also known as Salvé, (* 1935 in Soignies, † May 22, 1972 ) was a Belgian comic book artist.

Life

After completing his military service in 1956 Salverius found work at Dupuis. Initially employed with smaller illustrations for Risque - Tout and Spirou, he drew in 1959 a promotional comic for Cécémel, a cocoa drink. From 1959 to early 1965 arose for Spirou with changing some authors Minirécits (Comics in miniature ), the Indian or Wild West theme were characterized mostly by the already typical for the artist. The first series heroes salves were the cowboy twins Tim et Tom, appeared of which between 1962 and early 1965, three mini-comics. With the scriptwriter of the series, Jacques Devos, Salvé created 1963-1967 and the one-to two-page gags to Whamoka et Whikilowat, an Indian father and son. These figures were adapted in 1966 for two illustrated children's books, which appeared in German in the Caucasus as a Band 1 and 4 of the series The colorful Bussi book. Another Indian Salvé'scher imprinting arose again for the genre of mini-comics: the hapless warrior Petit- Cactus (German: Small cactus ) experienced by scenarios of Paul Deliège in 1968/69 eight adventures around the hatchet.

In 1968, Raoul Cauvin Salverius proposes to make the drawings for The Blue Boys (French: Les Bleues Tuniques ). This is his first major series, which was first published on August 29, 1968 in the weekly magazine Spirou. In addition to some one -pagers and short stories he recorded four volumes in which it comes to soldiers of the northern states during the American Civil War. Salverius used in the stories with a memorable comic style. The figures are not similar to the current, but more reminiscent of Ryssack or Franquin. The band Outlaw he could not accomplish. He died on 22 May 1972.

The unfinished adventure is completed by Willy Lambil, who took over the series in 1972, in the caricature style Salverius. The following volumes of the style is more realistic.

Comic books

A list of the French Les Bleues Tuniques volumes with Salvé material, including year of publication and their German equivalents. The shares subscribed by Salvé episodes of Blue Boys appeared in the German speaking exclusively in the Caucasus (1971-1974) and Bastion ( 1981/82 as Bud & Chester ).

The short stories of the last two albums also appeared in the Caucasus in Tom and beaver, Caucasus comic and Pepito. Small cactus was, inter alia, in the band Caucasus Super 59 series under the title fight brought out around the hatchet.
