Louis Zimmer

Louis Zimmer ( born September 8, 1888 in Lier, Belgium, † December 12, 1970 ibid, also Ludwig room) was a Belgian watchmaker.

Biography

Room is builder and founder of the famous monumental anniversary watch (1930) and the astronomical Studios (1932 ) in the tower room named after him. The Zimmer Tower, formerly medieval Cornelius tower houses the massive clock tower, which moves the astronomical outdoor displays, vending machines and the nine departments and 51 images of astronomical teaching studios. The Dynamics provides clearly reflect the cosmic relationships.

Room built another highly complex mechanical wound watch that moved 93 dials and 14 machines. It was presented in 1939 at the World Exhibition in New York and is now situated in an outbuilding of the Zimmer tower in Lier complex.

Ludwig Room was appointed on 13 June 1970, to mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of the tower room, for his services to the town of Lier the first honorary citizen.
