Louise Portal

Louise Portal ( born May 12, 1950 in Chicoutimi, Quebec City as Louise Lapointe ) is a Canadian actress, singer and writer.

Life

Louise Portal was born as Louise Lapointe. Her twin sister was the actress Pauline Lapointe ( 1950-2010 ). Both were the oldest of five children. Her younger sisters are the songwriter Genevieve and Priscilla, who writes, composes and teach music and singing. The younger brother Dominique Lapointe is a journalist, producer and presenter at Radio -Canada. Her father was the doctor Marcel Lapointe (1920-1980), who was known under the pseudonym Marcel portal as a writer, poet and painter.

After she was still rejected the first attempt to be an actress from the drama school, she began a year later in 1969 her studies at the prestigious Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal, which she finished in 1971. In addition, she studied from 1986 to 1989 at the Actors Studio in New York City.

As an actress she made her debut in the 1972 published and staged by Mireille Dansereau drama La vie rêvée on the side of Véronique Le Flaguais and Marc Messier. She became internationally known above all for her roles in The Decline of the American Empire, The Barbarian Invasions, and in the south. She was nominated for Cordélia and Sous -sol each for Best Actress for the Canadian Film Awards Genie Award and won him for her performance in The Decline of the American Empire for Best Supporting Actress.

Since 13 May 1995, she is married to the writer Jacques Hébert.
