Loulie Jean Norman

Loulie Jean Norman ( born March 12, 1913 in Birmingham, Alabama; † August 2, 2005 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American soprano singer and the original Star Trek theme song.

Life

Loulie Jean Norman was born in 1913 in Alabama Rebecca and Edward Norman. She had three brothers Cham, Rea and James, and a sister, Rosalind, all of which are already dead.

Norman began her career in New York as a radio singer and radio personality with its own mission and as a model. She had the opportunity to become an opera singer, but postponed their plans for the wedding with the pilot Norman Henry Price, a well-known American World War II heroes. They moved to Panama City in Florida, where Price worked as a flight instructor of Clark Gable; it evolved from a lifelong friendship.

The couple Norman -Price later moved to Los Angeles. In California, four children Patricia, Pamela, Priscilla and Norman Jr. was born. In LA, she also started her career as a highly successful studio singer and worked among others with Frank Sinatra, Spike Jones, Elvis Presley, Henry Mancini, Ray Charles, Dean Martin and Bing Crosby.

She has dubbed Diahann Carroll as Clara in the film version of Porgy and Bess in the song Summertime. Norman was also the voice of Tolkien's The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Norman has particular with the composer Gordon Jenkins (1910-1984) worked together and released several albums.

" World Famous " it was as original voice of the original Star Trek theme song, which was composed by Alexander Courage and written by Gene Roddenberry.

She died at the age of 93 in the presence of her children, grandchildren and great-grandson of old age.
