Love Metal (English for " Love Metal" ) is the fourth studio album by the Finnish rock band HIM.

Background

After the success of the two previous albums, and associated long, exhausting tours, the band for the year 2002 did not begrudge a creative break, which was interrupted only occasionally for a festival appearance. Thus, the group was able to extensively working on a successor to Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights. Even before singer Valo said that after the steady previous album, now should an album " for the boys " are created, that with again significantly harder, rockier sounds. For this reason, it was again obliged Hiili Hiilesmaa as a producer, who was the group already with their first album to the side. Besides Helsinki, created some of the shots in the Scream Studios in Los Angeles, Tim Palmer.

Finally, the album was released on 14 April 2003 in Germany, Finland and the rest of Europe. In the U.S., the record was released officially on 1 February 2005. In Germany and Finland, the album reached No. 1 on the charts. Of the three singles ( The Funeral of Hearts Buried Alive By Love and The Sacrament ) only managed the pre- published The Funeral of Hearts in the Top Ten of the German Charts (3rd place in Finland 1st place).

The album title Love Metal referred in his own words the musical style of HIM who love poetry (Love) and hard rock sounds ( Metal) combined.

Bam Margera, who was aware of the band with a visit to Europe and took a liking to their music, then made ​​contact with this. So finally came a collaboration to pass. Margera directed the music video for Buried Alive By Love, which originated in an old cinema in Los Angeles and with the participation of actress Juliette Lewis, as well as The Sacrament, which was in a castle in the Czech Republic rotated (near Prague).

Re- appeared from the album, in addition to the standard version, a limited edition digipak. The song Love's Requiem is only found in this version.
