In the Loviisa nuclear power plant, near the Finnish town of Loviisa on the south east coast of Finland, two Soviet-designed VVER operational.

Units 1 and 2

The two VVER -440 with a net capacity of 488 MW located in Loviisa and operated by the company Fortum Oy. To meet the Finnish safety regulations, especially a new one, not common in Russia version had to be developed. The Cover ( " containment " ) gave the U.S. company Westinghouse, Siemens control technology. Because of this unconventional solution, the east-west system was nicknamed " Eastinghouse ".

Block 1 was used for the first time on January 21, 1977 critical of Block 2 was followed on 17 October 1980. Reactors are in 1977 or 1981 in commercial operation.

Block 3

Loviisa was the site for the fifth Finnish reactor block in conversation, but which is now built on the site of the nuclear power plant Olkiluoto.
