Lovran

Lovran ( German: Lauran, Italian: Laurana ) is a climatic spa and seaside resort about 5 km south of Opatija, Croatia, and is part of the Primorje - Gorski Kotar. The name " Lovran " derives from Croatian " Lovor " = " laurel " from. Laurels are both in the arms of Lovran and in the surrounding vegetation lush yet.

History

Lovran has a small, once fortified, medieval town center. However, the rise of the former fishing village with 3640 inhabitants, today began only in the course of development of Abbazia / Opatija by the Austrian Southern Railway Company at the end of the 19th century.
