Low Countries

Low country is in the Nibelungenlied the mythical kingdom of Siegfried. Capital was Xanten. The area of this kingdom lay on the Lower Rhine, and is not identical with the modern Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Siegmund was his father / mother Siegelind. /

In a mächt'gen Veste / widely well known /

Down at Rheine / Xanten it was called. "
