Lowbrow (art movement)

Lowbrow (English " undemanding " ) is a style of visual art that has its origins in the U.S. Kustom Kulture and surf culture of the 1950s and the later Underground Comix. The term Pop Surrealism frequently used ( "Pop Surrealism " ) is sometimes used synonymously, considered partly as a form of Lowbrow. Most of the works are paintings of Lowbrow, however, some artists also created sculptures and installations.

Characteristic of Lowbrow is the playful and humorous processing and mixing of objects from pop culture to the type of Surrealism and Fantastic Realism. Significant provide suggestions while the objects and icons of today as "retro" in force, mainly American media phenomena, such as classic cartoons and comics, sitcoms of the 1960s, rock music, Pulp Magazines or B-movies.
