Lowe's mona monkey

The Lowe - tailed monkey ( Cercopithecus lowei ) is a primate of the species of vervet monkeys ( Cercopithecus ) within the family Cercopithecidae ( Cercopithecidae ). It is closely related to the Campbell - tailed monkey and is sometimes regarded as the subspecies.

Lowemeerkatzen have a red-brown fur on the upper side, the underside is lighter, almost whitish. The blue face is surrounded by a gray beard, the area of the mouth is reddish in color. Their body length is 35 to 55 centimeters and their weight from 2.5 to 6 kg, with males significantly heavier than females.

These animals live in western Africa in the countries of Ivory Coast and Ghana. Their habitat is forests, mainly secondary forests.

Not much is known about the life of this kind, but it is likely to agree with the other monkeys. It is therefore a diurnal and arboreal, living in harem groups. These consist of one male, several females and their young. The diet consists mainly of fruits and other plant material and insects.

The IUCN lists the Lowe - tailed monkey as not at risk because the species is widespread and can be adapted to different habitats.
