Lower Austrian state election, 2003

The state elections in Lower Austria in 2003 took place on March 30. Overall, seven party competed for the 56 seats in the Lower Austrian Landtag. The ÖVP, SPÖ, FPÖ, the Greens, the GRÜNÖ ( Green independent Austria - List of EU opposition Gabriela vladyka ) and the Communist Party were in all 21 constituencies. The CWG was only in the constituency Baden to vote. The ÖVP emerged as the clear winner of the election out, scored electoral gains of 8.4 percentage points and regained their absolute majority of votes and mandate. Also, the SPÖ won over three percentage points of the vote and a mandate. The FPÖ however, lost more than two -thirds of their votes in 1998, reached only two seats and fell behind the Greens, who also recorded electoral gains.
