Lower Franconia

Lower Franconia is a district and also an administrative district in Bavaria. It is in the northwest of the Free State and is bordered to the south and west by the states of Baden -Württemberg and Hesse, on the north by the Free State of Thuringia and on the east by the Bavarian administrative districts of Upper and Central Franconia.

The name refers Lower Franconia, similar to the case of Lower Bavaria and Upper Bavaria, on the relative position of the Main. Economy

The district Lower Franconia announced in February 2010, 5.1 percent unemployed in January, there were still 5.0 percent. Thus, Lower Franconia has to Upper Bavaria, the lowest unemployment rate of all Bavarian administrative districts.

History

With the transition Frankish, to a small extent also kurrheinischer and Upper Rhenish territories to the new Kingdom of Bavaria after the Congress of Vienna of the Main circuit with Würzburg emerged as the capital. Coat of Arms history
