Lower Grand Lagoon is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Bay County in the U.S. state of Florida with 3,881 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Lower Grand Lagoon is located directly on the Gulf of Mexico, bordering the city of Panama City Beach. The CDP is located 10 km south-west of Panama City and about 170 km southwest of Tallahassee.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 3,881 inhabitants distributed to 6,325 households. The population density was 705.6 inh. / Km ². 92.0 % of the population were white, 1.5% African American, 1.0% Native American and 0.9 % Asian Americans. 1.2% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.5% in different ethnic groups. 6.2% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 24.7 % of all households lived in 18.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 49.0 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.01 persons and the average family size is 2.60 people.

16.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 30.1% were 20-39 years old, 31.3 % were 40-59 years old and 22.5 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 42 years. 51.5 % of the population were male and 48.5 % female.

The average annual income was $ 42,813, while 11.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.80 % of the population spoke Spanish 3.52% and 0.68 % spoke German.
