The Lufeng Formation is a Lower Jurassic sedimentary rock formation, in Yunnan, China.

The formation consists of two units, a matt violet library derived from the Hettangian and a dark red bench from the Sinemurian. The formation is known for its fossils of early dinosaurs. In the dull violet Bank Fossil found by Eshanosaurus, possibly one of the Therizinosaurus, Fossil also found by Lukousaurus, possibly one of the theropods and were found in the Bank of the Fossil Sauropodomorphen Gyposaurus sinensis, Lufengosaurus, Jingshanosaurus and Yunnanosaurus.

The dinosaurs, which were discovered in dark red bank, part of belonging to the theropod Dilophosaurus sinensis, the prosauropode Gyposaurus and Fossil from Lufengosaurus and Yunnanosaurus which were found already in the violet bank. Also indeterminate remains of sauropod dinosaurs and the Bienosaurus and Tatisaurus were found.
