Loxstedt

Loxstedt ( Low German Lox ) is a unit municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony, Germany. The community is located south of Bremerhaven. The administrative headquarters is located in the village of Loxstedt.

Geography

Geographical Location

The community Loxstedt is located in the North German Plain and is characterized by Geest, marsh and moorland. Within the municipal territory are the nature reserves Bülter lake edge and Moore, Königsmoor, Neuenlander outer dike, Stoteler Moor and Moor Placke. Village

The village Loxstedt was first mentioned in 1059 in records under the name Lacstidi. Lacstidi means " settlement on the pool " and refers to a bog, which existed between the towns Loxstedt and Düring.
