Loy Hering

Loy Hering (* 1484/85 in Kaufbeuren, † after June 1, 1554 Eichstätt ) was a German sculptor of the Renaissance.

Life

He received his training from Hans Beierlein in Augsburg. Between 1511 and 1512 he settled in Eichstätt, where he, in 1519 elected to the inner council, several times ( 1523/24, 1527, 1533 and 1540) held the mayor's office and got gradually transferred to all urban honorary offices. His great patron was the Prince Bishop of Eichstätt Gabriel Eyb who not only himself gave him orders, but also gave him orders from relatives. With his sons and journeymen herring led one of the most prolific artists of the German Renaissance workshops and provided almost the entire German-speaking world with its mainly carved out of Eichstätt Jura limestone works.
