Loy W. Henderson

Loy Wesley Henderson ( born June 28, 1892 in Rogers, Arkansas, † March 24, 1986 in Bethesda, Maryland) was an American diplomat.

His father was a Methodist minister. Henderson studied at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and graduated in 1915 with a BA from. In World War I he was a volunteer at the American Red Cross and 1917-1918 studied at the University of Denver.

In 1922, he joined the civil service and was Vice Consul in Dublin. In 1925 he worked in the Baltics. In 1934 he was transferred to the newly opened embassy to Moscow and worked under Ambassador William C. Bullitt simultaneously with George F. Kennan and Charles E. Bohlen, from 1935 as chargé d'affaires. In 1942 he came to Baghdad in 1945, he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States as head of the Middle East. In 1948, he was transferred as ambassador to New Delhi in 1951 to Tehran. In 1955 he served between January 26 and August 9 as Secretary for Administration ( Assistant Secretary of State for Administration) in the center; In 1960 he resigned from the Foreign Ministry.

Between 1961 and 68 he taught International Relations at the American University in Washington.
