Ølsted (Eng. about Bierort ) is a small village in the Capital Region of Sjælland in Denmark

Ølsted belongs to Halsnæs municipality, in the resort live 1924 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Ølsted is located south of the Arresø and west of Roskilde Fjord. West of Ølsted is the holiday village Ølsted Strandhuse, southwest Ølsted Sydstrand. The city Frederiksværk is about 8 km north of the town, Frederikssund about 10 km south. The place Skaevinge belonging to Hillerød municipality, located 7 km east of Ølsted.

History

Most likely, the village was founded before 400 AD, which suggest excavations at Stokrosevej in April 2006. The oldest surviving building is the church, which was built around the year 1100. King Frederick IV of Denmark in 1721 prompted the construction of several schools, one of which was built in 1727 in Ølsted. She now serves as the local church office.

Ølsted heard in the municipal reform 2007 Halsnæs municipality. Before that, it belonged to Frederiksværk municipality in the Official Frederiksborg.

Transport and Infrastructure

Ølsted has a railway station, via which it is connected to the line Hillerød Hundested.
