Lubbock Cotton Kings

The Lubbock Cotton Kings were an American ice hockey team from Lubbock, Texas. The team played from 2001 to 2007 in the Central Hockey League.

History

The Lubbock Cotton Kings were founded in 1999 as a franchise of the Western Professional Hockey League. In this they failed in the 2000 /01 season in the finals with 1:4 victories at the Bossier - Shreveport Mudbugs. When the League was dissolved, the Cotton Kings joined with several other teams in the Central Hockey League. In the CHL Lubbock could not build on the success of the WPHL and reached only in the 2004/05 season, the playoffs for the Miron Cup. In this, the team was defeated in the first round in the best- of-seven series with the Amarillo Gorillas 1:4. Following the 2006/07 season, the franchise was disbanded due to persistent failure.
