Luc Boltanski

Luc Boltanski ( born 1940 ) is a French sociologist. He is research director at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris. His main interest in sociology applies to questions of morality and politics. Originally a student of Pierre Bourdieu, he went over the 80 years it has increasingly distanced himself from this. He is the brother of artist Christian Boltanski.

In autumn 2008, Boltanski held the Frankfurter Adorno lectures with the general title " Sociology and Social Criticism".
