Luc Gnacadja

Luc -Marie Constant Gnacadja is a Beninese politician and architect.

From June 1999 to February 2005, he was in the government of President Mathieu Kérékou Minister of Environment, Housing and Urban Development. In 2006 he was the presidential candidate of Envol movement, reaching 0.68 % of the votes the 11th Place. In March 2003, he was the World Bank awarded the Green Award of the Year 2002. Gnacadja he chaired a number of international ministerial conferences, meetings and workshops in the fields of environment, urban planning, regional planning and sustainable development, including the African Conference of Environment Ministers and the Commission on Sustainable Development. He also served as the leader of the delegation of the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC and the Convention on Biodiversity.

In September 2007 Gnacadja was appointed Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification ( UNCCD). He took office on 1 October 2007.
