Luc Moullet

Luc Moullet ( born October 14, 1937 in Paris ) is a French film director, media studies professor and film critic.

Life

He wrote since the early 1960s, film critic for the Cahiers du cinéma in 1960 and made his first short film. Since then he has led in 33 short and feature films directed. Most of them had to be realized with extremely low budgets. The notgedrungende Arte Povera aesthetic has not harmed the self-deprecating wit of his film work. French director Jean -Marie Straub Moullet referred to as " the only legitimate heirs of Jacques Tati and Luis Buñuel ."

Moullet is Emeritus Professor of the Paris film school La fémis. Previously, he taught at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. For many of his and other films of auteurs Moullet has worked as an actor and screenwriter. Beginning of 2007 is a Collected Works box with four DVDs come out in France, which makes accessible the most important films Moullets. Since hardly any of his works had subtitled versions - found lack of original a German distributor, it is often the first to discover for German filmmakers.
