Luca Lombardi

Luca Lombardi ( born December 24, 1945 in Rome) is an Italian- Israeli composer.

Life

Luca Lombardi attended from 1955, the German school in Rome. After a piano and composition studies in Rome, Florence, Vienna, Cologne and Berlin Luca Lombardi earned his doctorate at the University of Rome. 1986 to 1972 he lived in Cologne and studied at the Cologne Courses for New Music by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Henri Pousseur, Mauricio Kagel, Dieter Schnebel, and Frederic Rzewski. At the Cologne University of Music, he studied with Bernd Alois Zimmermann. From 1973 to 1993 he worked at the conservatories of Pesaro and Milan as a teacher of composition, since then he has been working as a freelancer. In Italy, he was the neighbor of Hans Werner Henze.

Lombardi is a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts and the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 2008, Lombardi acquired Israeli citizenship; he lived for a time in Rome as well as in Tel Aviv. His strong dislike of the anti-Semitism finds its expression in his works (for example, in the string quartet WHY?, Composed for Robert Schumann's 200th birthday anniversary ). He speaks and composed as Italian, German, Hebrew and English in different languages ​​, and is currently working on his fifth opera, a woman flees from a message on a novel by David Grossman.
