Lucene

Apache Lucene is a program library for full-text search and a project of the Apache Software Foundation.

In particular, an example of the performance and scalability of Lucene provides Twitter. Since Lucene is open source, the company used to adapt to its needs for real-time and created on this basis, a complete architecture blockade -free processes using Java.

History

Lucene was developed by Doug Cutting, and was initially available on SourceForge since 1997. The name Lucene is the second first name of Doug Cuttings wife.

Lucene in 2001 became part of the Jakarta project and in 2005 a major project of the Apache Software Foundation. From the Apache Lucene project occasionally go out separately discontinued projects.

Project

Outside of the project further derivatives of Lucene were created.
