Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca
Lucie Olbrechts - Tyteca (* 1899, † 1987) was the long-standing academic partner of the argumentation theorist Chaim Perelman, whom she assisted voluntary.
Life
Olbrechts - Tyteca - coming from an influential family in Brussels - studied literature and social science topics and methods at the Brussels University without ever having to pursue a professional career. Later she married eleven years her senior statistician Raymond Olbrechts and led up to their encounter with the philosopher Chaim Perelman in 1948 an academically and socially reclusive life.
