Lucilius Junior

Lucilius Iunior (* 6 AD, probably in Campania ) was a Roman knight and the correspondents of about ten years older Seneca Epistulae morales in, Natural quaestiones and De providentia.

Lucilius was born 6 AD in Campania and was of humble origin. Through influential patrons ( Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus such as Gaetulicus ) and own talent and energy, he obtained the rank equestrischen. First, he did military service on the Rhine, in the East and in Africa and was about 63/64 procurator in Sicily.

He devoted himself to the study of philosophical problems and wrote poems whose themes mentioned Seneca. His authorship of the poem Aetna is quite unlikely.
