Lucille Roybal-Allard

Lucille Roybal - Allard (born 12 June 1941 in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles County, California) is an American politician. Since 1993, it represents the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Lucille Roybal - Allard is the daughter of California Congressman Edward R. Roybal ( 1916-2005 ). After primary school she studied until 1965 at the California State University in Los Angeles. Later, she worked in public relations and non-profit organizations. At the same time she began a career in politics as a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1987 and 1992 she was a deputy in the California State Assembly.

In the congressional elections of 1992, Roybal - Allard was the 33rd electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they became the successor of David Dreier on January 3, 1993. After nine previously re- elections, they can exercise their mandate in Congress today. Since 2003, it upholds as the successor of Grace Napolitano the 34th district of their state. In her time as a Congressman, the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. She is a member of the Appropriations Committee and two subcommittees. She also serves on the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus. From 1999 to 2000, she stood before the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

With her husband Edward, a business consultant and former officer in the United States Marine Corps, she has two children and two stepchildren. The family lives privately in Los Angeles.
