Lucius Valerius Messalla Volesus

Lucius Valerius Messala Volesus was a Roman senator at the time of the Emperor Augustus.

Messalla Volesus was a son of Valerius Messala Potitus, Suffektkonsul in the year 29 BC Messalla Volesus began his career in 12 BC as a triumvir aere argento auro flando feriundo ( Münzbeamter ). The next stages of his career to n to its consulate in year 5 AD are unknown. In the year 11 or 12 was Messalla Volesus proconsul of the province of Asia. His career came to an end when he was accused and convicted of " unheard-of cruelties ". Augustus himself wrote a memorandum libelli Augusti de Voleso Messalla.
