Lucius Varius Rufus

Lucius Varius Rufus (c. 70 BC, † 15 BC ) was a famous Roman poet of the Augustan age. He was a contemporary of Horace and Virgil, with whom he was associated in a circle of poets, which was supported by Maecenas.

His works have not survived. Is known: de morte, a didactic poem in the tradition of the Epicureans, and the tragedy Thyestes, which was performed at the Games of Actium 29 BC.
