Luctuosissimi eventus

The encyclical Luctuosissimi eventus of 28 October 1956 the call of Pope Pius XII. to " public prayers for peace and freedom of the Hungarian people ".

With deep consternation and grief of the Pope had of the events in Hungary: find (Note Hungarian national uprising of 23 October 1956), he deplored the bloodshed, which was caused by this shocking massacre. Here the rights of civil society are disregarded and the dignity of man and woman were injured. With the call to prayer he asks for the end of this carnage and hopes that a genuine peace, justice and freedom may re-enter.
