Lucy's Warbler

Rotbürzel Warbler ( Vermivora luciae )

The Rotbürzel Warbler ( Vermivora luciae ) is a small insectivorous bird of the family of warblers ( Parulidae ). The English name " Lucy's Warbler" by Lucy Hunter Baird was the daughter of Spencer Fullerton Baird ornithologist named. He received the German name from the red to orange rump.

Rotbürzel - warblers are among the smallest warbler species. They carry a rather nondescript plumage. The upper side is greyish plumage, the base white plumage. The males carry on the head small rust colored spots. They hatch next to the lemon Warbler ( Protonotaria citrea ) as the only species of warblers in tree cavities or nest boxes.

The distribution area of Rotbürzel - warbler extends from the southwestern United States to north- western Mexico. The stocks have fallen by the brood parasitism of Brown-headed Kuhstärlings ( Molothrus ater).
