Lucy Walker (director)

Lucy Walker ( * in London) is a British documentary filmmaker and film producer.

Life

Lucy Walker grew up in London and started during their school time to pass plays. This they continued as a student at New College, Oxford University, where she studied literature. After she graduated in 1992, she got to participate in the Fulbright Program and participated in a program at the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, she finished the degree of Master of Fine Arts.

Walker is known for its four documentary Devil's Playground, Blindsight, Waste Land and Countdown to Zero and also for her documentary short film The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom. In total, she won 27 awards for her films and was also nominated 14 times. For Wasteland 2011 she received an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary, and Walker's documentary short film The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom received an Oscar nomination in 2012 for Best Short Documentary.
