Ľudovít Lehen

Ľudovít fief ( born June 3, 1925 in Banská Bystrica ) is a Slovak painter, sculptor and chess composer.

Biography

Ludo fief studied from 1949 to 1955 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava in D. Milly and V. Hloznik. In 1955 he won the 1st prize in the Czechoslovak competition in realistic drawing. He was inspired in the cubist style of Pablo Picasso. His works were exhibited in Brussels in China and the USSR.

In the years in which every young artist longs to the fullest and artistic creation after life, his life from one day to another was suddenly interrupted. He was the victim in a constructed, political process. By 1968, he was 6 years in prison in Leopoldov. Two of his exhibitions were held in Leopoldov 1966 and 1967.

After returning to normal life was out of it a very different Ludo fief. An artist he has remained, but he has a world of its own built in which he, as he said " for themselves" created. The reason now to actually live long " illegality" of Ludo fief are strokes of fate, who at a young age, at the beginning of his career, hit him.

Today he lives in Petržalka, a district of Bratislava. His apartment is also his studio and exhibition space from time to time. In his artistic focus is on the woman. Sometimes she bears a resemblance to his daughter, other times it has again the face of Venus or a girl in a local clothing; the figures are stylized and refer to some archaic features that are found in non-European art.
