Ludwig Bledow

Ludwig Erdmann Bledow ( born July 27, 1795 in Berlin, † August 6, 1846 ) was a German chess player.

Biography

By profession was Bledow mathematics teacher at Cöllnischen secondary school. Was instructed to chess Bledow of the strongest players of his time in Berlin, Julius Mendheim. From 1835, he was considered one of the leading chess players in Germany. He measured in duels with the top players of his time. He won games against Horwitz (1837 ), SZEN (1839 ), Jaenisch (1842 ), Mongredien (1845 ) and others. Even against Anderssen, Henry Thomas Buckle and Aaron Alexandre, he took up.

Bledow was the founder of the Berlin School. He led the circle of the younger of the Berlin Chess Club, were among those Wilhelm Hanstein, Paul Rudolph of Bilguer and Tassilo von der Lasa Heydebrand and, at the intensive study of chess literature and particularly the openings. Publications

Bledow published 1843 The between Berlin and Poznań club played by correspondence chess Lots [sic ]. The publication contained not only the 1839/40 between Berlin and Poznan discharged, but a total of 52 more correspondence games - and was even the first German book on correspondence chess. The collection was expanded in 1872 by Max Lange and reissued. In 1997, a reprint of the original edition was published by 1843.
