Ludwig David Morenz

David Ludwig Morenz ( born April 4, 1965 in Leipzig ) is a German Egyptologist.

David Ludwig Morenz, son of Egyptologist Siegfried Morenz, studied from 1985 to 1990 Oriental Archaeology at the University of Halle, with specialization Egyptology, Coptic and Ancient Near Eastern Studies, in addition also Classical Archaeology. In 1990, he wrote his thesis with the title: The Dead Do One of the First Intermediate Period from Gebelein. From 1990 to 1993 he studied with the aim of a PhD at the University of Leipzig Egyptology, Ancient Near Eastern Studies and History of Religion. In February and March 1992, he took part in an excavation at Tell Bubastis. In 1994 he received his doctorate with the work contributions to the Egyptian Schriftlichkeitskultur of the Middle Kingdom and the Second Intermediate Period. The work was published in 1996. In 2001 he qualified as a professor in the School of Cultural Studies at the University of Tübingen. The habilitation thesis is history ( n ) of the time of the Regions ( First Intermediate Period ) in the mirror of Gebelein region. In 2002 a Umhabilitierung at the Faculty of History, Art and Oriental Studies at the University of Leipzig. Since 2009 he is Professor of Egyptology in Bonn.

He is on excavations in Moalla / Nag Abu Said, in collaboration with M. Collier ( University of Liverpool), and the region of Helwan, in collaboration with K. Dawood (SCA ) and P. Kousoulis ( University of the Aegean ), involved.
