Ludwig Eichrodt
Ludwig Eichrodt ( born February 2, 1827 in Durlach in Karlsruhe, † February 2nd 1892 in Lahr ) was a humorous poet.
Life
Ludwig Eichrodt was born the son of Mr and Mrs Ludwig Friedrich Eichrodt (1798-1844) ( ministry officials and Minister of the Interior ) and Elizabeth ( born Joos, 1809-1891 ). He studied since 1845 in Heidelberg and Freiburg, law, philosophy and history, and then lived as a magistrate in various places until he was appointed Supreme court judge in Lahr, 1871. He died on his 65th birthday. His grave is in a cemetery in Lahr. According to him, a primary school in Lahr is named.
Together with his student friend Adolf Kussmaul he invented the character of the Swabian village teacher Gottlieb Biedermeier, a man who by their characterization " help his little room, his garden close, be unsightly stains and the poor lot of a despised village schoolmaster to earthly happiness ." According to this figure, a whole era was later named.
Eichrodt was a friend of a bushel since his school days with Viktor. With the North German writer Theodor Storm - poet lawyer like himself - led Eichrodt a lively correspondence.
