Ludwig Hartau

Ludwig Hartau ( born February 19, 1877 in Trachenberg, Silesia, † November 24, 1922 in Berlin) was a German actor.

Life

The well-known stage actor and teacher, whose pupils was, inter alia, Ursula war, ventured at the age of 35 years the leap into the fledgling profession film. The breakthrough was a sought-after actor, he managed until 1916.

Under directors such as Ernst Lubitsch and Fritz Lang, he appeared in numerous silent films. In Hans Steinhoff's strip The False Dimitri it was originally intended for the lead role as Ivan the Terrible. Ludwig Hartau died in 1922 at the height of his movie career.
