Ludwig Schuberth (composer)

Louis Schuberth (* April 18, 1806 in Magdeburg, † 1850 in St. Petersburg ) was a German conductor and composer.

Life

Louis Schuberth was a brother of the publisher Julius Schuberth. He learned from Dotzauer cello and studied with Carl Maria von Weber theory and composition. The age of twelve he became a member of the Magdeburg orchestra. Later he was a conductor in Oldenburg and Riga, until he was obliged in 1835 to the Theater in Königsberg. In 1837 he went to Gdansk and was replaced by Richard Wagner, however, returned to Königsberg on October 1, 1840.
