Ludwig Tower (Bad Kissingen)

The Ludwig storm of Bad Kissingen is located on the Staffelberg in the Bavarian spa town. The tower is named in memory of the Wittelsbach after King Ludwig I.. He belongs to the Bad Kissinger monuments and is registered under the number D -6-72-114-21 in the Bavarian monument list.

History

The idea to build the tower dates back to the then Mayor Kissinger Carl Prince. The inauguration took place after two years of construction on August 29, 1883 by Fürst's successor, Mayor Theobald von Fuchs instead. In 1912 an increase was planned, but this was not realized.

From the beginning, the tower was popular as a lookout. This status has now gone through the high tree growth around the lost tower. Today, right there next to the tower a training center of the Diocesan Association of Würzburg St. George's scouts.

The Ludwigsturm is dilapidated for several years and had to be closed to the public in 2008. In March 2012, the Bad Kissinger City Council announced that for a general renovation, the cost would amount to 120,000 euros, there is no money available. An outline of the tower also is not at issue, since on the one hand and the missing making the necessary 40,000 euros and is available for the other tower on the conservation list.

Architecture

The built of sandstone tower has a square base and is built cuboid.
