Ludwig-Uhland-Preis

The Ludwig- Uhland - Price was founded by Carl Duke of Württemberg in 1991. For the purposes of its namesake Ludwig Uhland (1787-1862) to be so honored persons,

  • Who have contributed with their work significantly to understanding the culture Württemberg or the German southwest;
  • Have presented the important studies of Ludwig Uhland or awarded to one of the work areas Uhland;
  • Which have emerged in the dialect research or dialect poetry with relevant work.

The Ludwig- Uhland - prize is worth 10,000 euros. Since 2001 an additional prize will be awarded, which is endowed with 5,000 euros. A panel of judges chose the winner of the award for which an application is not possible.

The award ceremony is held every two years at the birthday of Ludwig Uhland, April 26, instead of in the Order hall of the castle Ludwigsburg. In 2011, the award was exceptionally laid on 29 April because of the Easter holidays.
