The Ludwigshafen station ( Rhine ) center is a stop on the railway station erected in 2003 Category 3 in the southern center of the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein.
Located Berliner Platz on public transport hub, and to the traveler also offer connecting flights to destinations all over the city, according to Mannheim and the surrounding countryside.
The geographical location of the Ludwigshafen main railway station on the outskirts of the city made the construction of a new railway station in a central location, the so-called South Pole downtown, is necessary. The station has an outdoor platform ( platform 1) and a central platform ( tracks 2 and 3). Most of the platforms is spanned by this train shed with a central and two side aisles. On the south side a fourth track passing through the station, which is not reached by a platform. On this track mainly happens freight train station.
Originally the station in particular the S-Bahn was only for the processing of transport, designed on the trunk route between Mannheim and Ludwigshafen Hbf. Subsequently, however, the plans were changed in regard to the length of the platform, so that the train station is also designed for ICEs of the second and third generations.
Directly east of the station concurs with the Konrad -Adenauer- Bridge, where the railway line crosses the Rhine. For this reason, the station itself is located several meters above ambient level. Access is from the east side of the communication path between the Berlin Square and the shopping center roller mill stairs, escalators and elevators. On the west side of the platforms is accessible on stairs of the overpass on the Mundenheimer road. From this side is a barrier-free access have been considered, corresponding empty sites for the installation of lifts are available.
