Luemschwiller

Luemschwiller ( German Lümschweiler ) is a commune with 695 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Altkirch, Altkirch the canton and the existing community association since 2001 Secteur d' illfurth.

Geography

The municipality is located in Luemschwiller Sundgau, south of Mulhouse and northeast of Altkirch in a tributary of the River Ill.

Neighboring communities of Luemschwiller are Zillisheim in the north, stone Brunn -le-Haut in the east, Obermorschwiller the southeast, Emlingen in the south, Walheim in the southwest, Tagolsheim in the west and illfurth in the northwest.

History

In the 12th century it was known as Limmiswiler. He was knowingly the reigns of Altkirch, later assumed by Ferrette and from 1324 to 1648 the Habsburgs. Among the pure Achern a castle and a synagogue were built.
