Luftkurort

Health resort or state- recognized health resort is the most widespread in Germany predicate for spas. The name goes back to the air cure, a form of air treatment.

It is awarded to towns whose air and climate, according to a report properties that are conducive to recovery and health. This report must be repeated regularly.

The criteria for this report are available in an annotated version of the definitions - quality standards for Prädikatisierung of spas, resorts and mineral springs (currently the 12th edition from May 2005). From the federal states a valid recognition regulation must be present.

Unlike other spas usually no stationary Kurmaßnahmen offered to clean air spas. The predicate is mainly acquired from places where tourism plays a major role. From the predicate resort the municipality may levy a tax for all guests who stay. The funds raised will be earmarked for the expenditure of the municipality of Tourism.

Legal bases

The recognition as a health resort is made on the basis of a law or regulation ( as in Bavaria, Lower Saxony, Saxony -Anhalt and Schleswig -Holstein).

Bavaria
