Catchment area of ​​the Luga

The Luga (Russian Луга, Finnish Laukaa, Laukaanjoki, Votic Laugaz ) is a river in Novgorod Oblast and Leningrad Oblast in the Russian Federation district of North West Russia.

It rises about 20 kilometers north of Novgorod, flows through a sparsely populated area, passes through the cities of Luga and Kingissepp and ends after 353 kilometers at Ust- Luga in the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea.

This makes it the westernmost Russian River, which empties into the Gulf of Finland. The nächstwestlichere river is the border river Narva.
