Luigi Emanueli

Luigi Emanueli ( born May 4, 1883 in Milan, † February 17, 1959 ) was an Italian electrical engineer who developed the oil cable, a special construction of a high voltage cable.

Life

After Luigi Emanueli graduating in 1906 at the Milan Polytechnic as an electrical engineer, he was hired by Pirelli, where he made electro- technical investigations. Around 1908 demonstrated Emanueli dielectric losses and 1911 ionization in ac cables.

In 1917 he became technical manager of Pirelli in Italy and in 1919 Chief Engineer of Pirelli in England. He obtained with his oil-filled cable, which he presented in 1927 attracted international attention.

Shortly before his death, the Faraday Medal was awarded by the British Institution of Electrical Engineers.
