Luigi Morleo

Luigi Morleo ( born November 16, 1970 in Mesagne (BR), Italy ) is an Italian drummer and composer of modern music. Since 1994 he has taught at Niccolo Piccinni Conservatory in Bari - percussion and, since 2005, arranging film music.

Career

Morleo was 1987-1991 percussionist at the Teatro Petruzzelli, Bari and Orchestra in 1992-1994 percussionist and timpanist with the Orchestra of the Government of the province of Bari. He is currently a timpanist at the Concert Society of Bari and has played with this in Europe, Japan and China. In addition to its permanent position he took as a soloist at festivals in Europe and the U.S. in part, including the festival for new sound experiments Audio Box with RAI Radio 1, the International Summer Theater Festival in Hamburg or the Lucerne Festival in Lucerne.

With the RAI Symphony Orchestra of Milan, he played under the direction of Luciano Berio. As a guest composer he was since 1998 in the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions at New York University. In April 2000, he met twice with three of his students to the composer Forum NYU. In November 2001 he performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention ( PASIC 2001) in Nashville, Tennessee as a soloist and played his composition Le Rughe del Deserto. He is also a guest at the conservatories in Geneva and Lyon and a member of the Associazione Italiani Percussionisti in Bolzano.
