Luigi Taparelli

Luigi d' Azeglio Taparelli (* November 24, 1793 in Turin, † September 21, 1862 in Rome ) was an Italian theologian.

Biography

The older brother of Massimo d' Azeglio came as Marchese of a noble family and entered the Jesuit order in 1814. He was first as rector of the Roman College operates. Here he became the teacher of the future Pope Leo XIII. , The raised parts of the neo-scholasticism and the Sozialscholastik the official doctrine of the encyclicals Rerum Novarum and Aeterni Patris. The response to the revolution of 1848/49 led to the breakthrough of neo-scholasticism, D' Azeglio was called back to Rome, where he founded the magazine La Civilta Cattolica.

Work

As one of the first pioneers of the renaissance of the Aristotelian- Thomistic philosophy ( neo-scholasticism ), he was also the most important influence on the Sozialscholastik and has mainly the natural and constitutional thinking of the neo-scholasticism influenced. In his work, attempt to experience based natural law ( 1840-43 ) for the first time the term social justice was used, the term is thus originally back to him. His state performance was determined by the rejection of the idea of the social contract, he looked at the human society rather than a formed from the natural social systems and the social obligation of the man-made order, knows the inherent rights and the common good bond.
